Not So Much a Question as a Comment…
My whole life, I have loved food. That describes so many people, I know, but it really does describe me. One of my first memories is my father telling me I had set the family record for ravioli consumed in one sitting. I did this at age 3 (#humblebrag).
Over the past decade-plus, I have also grown to love the local food scene. There are talented people doing incredible things in this area. Think of Jamie McDonald, Heather & Roy Riedl, Eric Stagl, Tyler Anderson, Paul Hathaway & Amy Goclowski, Dung Tran, and so many others. We are lucky to have so many genuinely kind and creative people making great food.
In addition to food and local restaurants, one of my other loves has been writing. I have been incredibly fortunate over the years to have the opportunity to write for a variety of publications on a variety of subjects. For me, the opportunity to share my thoughts through writing has been a source of great joy and pride.
It is no surprise, then, that I am embarking on a new goal in 2021. That goal will be to blog/write about the many excellent restaurants in Hartford, Springfield area, and other spots in Connecticut and Massachusetts. I have to give credit to my friend Steve Renzullo for giving me the push I needed to start this.
Beyond wanting to start writing again, I really hope that these posts expose you to restaurants that you may not have tried, either because you haven’t heard of them or because you weren’t sure you would enjoy them. The restaurant industry, locally (and nationally), has had a terrible year. Incredible journalists like Leeanne Griffin have provided a clear image of the current state of the business. I hope that this blog will introduce you to at least one spot that you think, “Gosh, I need to try that.”
Thank you so much for coming along on this journey with me.
